Description
Oath: Chainwarden is one of the 17 obtainable Oaths in Deepwoken. This Oath focuses on an aggressive playstyle along with immobilizing foes with chains, with unique talents such as Perpetual Wrath, increasing your damage with consecutive hits to Chained enemies.
“ What is it? You had better not be wasting my time. There's filth that requires scraping off the map. ”
― Vice Warden Morredh
Lore wise Chainwardens are strong enforcers of justice serving The Central Authority. They are sworn to enact justice upon anyone they determine to oppose it, using their Chains to condemn and punish those who oppose their own sense of order.
Obtainment
- The Oath requires at least 40 points combined into either Strength, Fortitude and Willpower, for example: 20 Strength, 5 Fortitude and 15 Willpower, or 0 Strength, 30 Fortitude and 10 Willpower.
- Speak to Vice Warden Morredh in Fort Merit with slightly below than Ally Rep or higher, and retrieve a hostage below the Castle Ruins at Summer Isle.
Minimum reputation requirement
- After talking to the hostage below the castle, go back up the ladder. This will spawn Emar Vend, a rogue Chainwarden wielding a Darksteel Greatsword and Ironsing mantras. He will spawn on top of the castle above the ladder. NOTE: Emar Vend may sometimes not spawn, rejoining to another server should resolve this issue. Upon defeating him, you will be granted the Oath.
- If obtaining this with a friend and you don't receive kill credit after dealing damage to Emar Vend, head back to Vice Warden Morredh and he will provide you the oath.

Progression
You can complete either of these methods a combined total of two times to max progression:
- Executing Enchained players who The Central Authority are enemies with. (Hunted or below reputation)
- Executing Enchained humanoid bosses who The Central Authority are enemies with.
Known humanoid bosses are:
(Note: If Enchained duration runs out or snaps before the target is executed, it will not count for progression, this means the target must be Enchained while beaten, which is most tricky on Maestro Evengarde Rest and The Ferryman)
Alternatively you can skip the progression by speaking to Vice Warden Morredh and pay him 10 if you have previously maxed out the Oath.
Effects
The Oath grants 2 Combat Mantra Slots, 1 Wildcard Mantra Slot, and +5% PEN.
As for appearance, it adds a chained gauntlet to your left arm, and a chained belt to the waist. The chains can be vividly dyed, however the gauntlet is much darker when recolored. If a pair of Cestus is equipped, the gauntlet overrides the appearance of the Cestus on the left arm, this effect however does not carry over to any similar Arms Equipment such as the Moonseye Gauntlets, keeping both gauntlets on the left arm.
